To troubleshoot the sync problem, I am currently trying it with ‘strict ISO compliance’ selected. If I can’t resolve the sync problem, or if the on-the-fly conversion takes too long, I may just have to keep two sets (and use a playlist to sync only on one of them. HOWEVER….I am hesitant to delete the MP3‘s just yet, as I am having some sync problems ( see post here ). So in the interim, I happen to have both. The only reason they exist is that when I first started, I did not really know about FLAC and so I ripped a whack of 320kps MP3 files, which I am now slowly replacing with FLAC. In an end-state, you are correct I only need the FLAC, as the Mp3 files would simply be generated on-the-fly. If a song is chosen and it already exists on the player, it will be left alone, even if the song was generated from FLAC by an auto-conversion (see #1)Īs to your follow-up on why I would keep both a FLAC and an MP3 of the same track – fair question. Clearly if my sync list was MUCH larger than my player there would be more volatility in the result. In other words, my sync list is only about 25% larger than my player, so only a few songs are deleted each time and replaced with new ones. How many songs are removed and replaced each time is dependent on how many potential candidates there are vs. If you have "Random Subset to Capacity" checked, MM will re-randomize on each sync. Using the Auto-Conversion rules MM can handle this transparently. I might ask why you're keeping two versions on-hand, because with MM making different versions from the root FLAC copy on the fly is trivial, particularly when syncing.
